My Soundtrack

Ok, since it's my day off and I love music and movies (and party shuffle), I'll go ahead and try this.... and just for fun, I'll add song quotes. According to this, if one were to make a movie about my life, it would be a Lifetime Original Movie written and directed by Zack Braff...?

Opening Credits: My Favorite Things - Sound of Music

Waking Up: Understand - Jeremy Camp.
Wow, my life is so confusing and I don't understand it.

First Day At School: Colorblind - Counting Crows
" Taffy stuck, tongue tied/ Stuttered shook and uptight/ Pull me out from inside/ I am ready/I am ready/ I am ready/ I am fine."

Falling In Love: The Brilliant Dance - Dashboard Confessional
"So this is strange/ a side-stepping has come to be/ a brilliant dance where/ nobody leads at all" That quote is strangely appropriate for me, but the song is actually about breaking up....

Breaking Up: Draw Me Close - Katinas
Good song for a broken heart.

Prom: Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness - Smashing Pumpkins
This song is instrumental, and sad. This is definitely one of those indie coming of age movies with a lot of quiet interludes and soft dialog.

Life's Ok: Cuban Pete - Jim Carey from the Mask Soundtrack. Wow.
"When I play the maracas I go chick-chick-ey- boom, chick-chickey-boom"

Mental Breakdown: My Stupid Mouth -
"Oh another social casualty/ score one more for me.... I'm never speaking up again"

Driving: Alive - Rebecca St. James
"You make me come alive"

Flashback: God Be Merciful to Me - Jars of Clay. Ok, honestly, what came up was an NPR stream....

Getting Back Together: #1 Crush - Garbage
" See your face every place that I walk in/ Hear your voice every time I am talking/ You will believe in me/ And I will never be ignored" This is so lifetime original movie....

Birth of Child: Everything - The Normals
"I wanna give you everything/ but I've got nothing but my open heart"

Final Battle: Diggin' On You - TLC ???
"I was like deep in a cool/ Whatnt gone be nobodys fool"

Death Scene: To Be With You - Hoobastank
" Cause I would leave it all so far behind/ Just to be with you today"

Funeral Song: Shout to the Lord - Mark Schultz

End Credits: Over-Rated - The Remedy Session
" I will visit here alone/ helps me breathe/ and I'll never sleep again/ It's overrated. "

1. Open your music library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc)
2. Put it on shuffle
3. Press play
4. For every question, type the song that's playing
5. When you go to a new question, press the next button
6. Don't lie and try to pretend you're cool.

Dude, this is possibly the best poll/quiz idea ever, and the fact that I started doing it right away is a testament to my insanity. Although it might also be fun to just decide which song you want for each category. But I'll stick with your 6-step thing.

I think my movie would be a saga-type movie (sweeping, overrated, partly incoherent) and should be directed either by Andrei Tarkovsky (who made "Andrei Rublev," an "iconic" Russian movie, pun intended :D) or Charlie Kaufman (Adaptation, Being John Malkovich, Eternal Sunshine...). NOTE: My iPod library is mixed with my dad's, hence an inordinate
amount of foreign/bizarre songs that I will NOT count as part of the shuffling process.

Opening Credits: Anywhere Is -- Enya.
"I took the turn and turned to/begin a new beginning/Still looking for the answer/I cannot find the finish"

Waking Up: Half As Much -- Patsy Cline. (Not the right mood at all...)
"Have you ever been lonely/Have you ever been blue/Have you ever loved someone/Just as I love you"

First Day At School: Abraham, Martin and John -- Dion. (At least I'm clearly not trying to be cool. :P)
"He freed a lot of people/But it seems the good, they die young/I just looked around and he's gone"

Falling In Love: Christmas in Sarajevo -- Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

NOTE: I just realized all these songs are kind of sad or pensive. I swear I have happy music!!

Breaking Up: Steam Heat -- from The Pajama Game. Could be relevant??

Prom: Dancing In the Dark -- Bruce Springsteen. HAHA!!

Life's Ok: To the Moon and Back -- Savage Garden. This is a great, moody '90s pop song.
"She can't remember a time when she felt needed/If love was red, then she was colorblind/All her friends, well, they've been tried for treason/And crimes that were never defined/She's saying, 'Love is like a barren place and reaching out for human faith/It's like a journey I just don't have a map for'/So baby's gonna take a dive and/Push shift to overdrive/Send a signal that she's hanging all her hopes on the stars"

Mental Breakdown: Hazy Shade of Winter -- The Bangles

Driving: Take Me Home, Country Roads -- John Denver. Haha, perfect.

Flashback: It's My Life -- Bon Jovi. Umm, this is a flashback I don't want.

Getting Back Together: Fernando -- ABBA. No comment on this either. :P

Birth of Child: No Myth -- Michael Penn. Yay, I want this song playing at EVERY life occasion.
"What if I were Romeo in black jeans/What if I was Heathcliff, it's no myth/Maybe she's just looking for/Someone to dance with"

Final Battle: Pardon Me -- Incubus. Megan, I really don't know what you mean by a "final battle" (I'm not anticipating some Armaggeddon-style showdown in my lifetime) but there it is... This song is quite appropriate actually.

Death Scene: Insensitive -- Jann Arden. Awwww.
"You probably don't remember me/It's probably ancient history/I'm one of the chosen few/Who went ahead and fell for you/I'm out of vogue, I'm out of touch/I fell too fast, I feel too much..."

Funeral Song: Get Off -- The Dandy Warhols. That's too funny!!!
"Hot diggity dog/I love God all the same/But all I wanna do is get off/I feel it, feel it, feel it, babe!"

End Credits: The Game of Love -- Wayne Fontana & The Mindbenders. This is possibly the least PC song I have, but it's entertaining and strangely appropriate.
"The purpose of a man is to love a woman/And the purpose of a woman is to love a man/So come on baby, let's start today/Come on baby, let's play the game of love!"
